The Ausbuy Charter

July 22nd, 2007

Too often we hear people saying that they want to support Australian companies and products, yet don’t know how to. Our labelling laws are somewhat vague and not very vigorously enforced, our best companies sold overseas and the laws of international trade prevent the government of the day taking direct action to favour Australian business.

Ausbuy is not a political organisation, we realise there are winners as well as losers from these laws. However, we believe that Australian owned companies can and should be supported. This support can come through the individual decisions made by Australian consumers. To mobilise this support it is necessary to identify Australian owned companies and their products and services. Ausbuy is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to getting this support for its members. The aims and objectives of Ausbuy can be set out as follows:

  • Provide our members with the free use of Ausbuy’s logos which clearly identify organisations as Australian owned.
  • Enter the name of the member in the Ausbuy Guide, which has an annual distribution of 180,000 copies nationally and which is extensively used by Australians when making purchasing decisions.
  • Lobby governments on legislative matters which may impact our members.
  • Comment on topical matters which Ausbuy believes may be important in terms of our central aim – to support the long term future of Australia by promoting Australian companies who will reinvest profits in Australia, provide career and training opportunities for young Australians, build Australian exports and provide services by Australians for Australians.

Membership of Ausbuy provides a marketing advantage and the use of our logo a product differentiation which allows patriotic shoppers to break through the problem of vague labelling laws to buy goods provided by Australian owned companies.
