Consider
We admire great sports people when they achieve their aims, and we extol the talents of our great artists and musicians. What they do is set their sights on a goal and use their innate talents, resources and discipline to achieve. They have a passion which drives them. You can see the lights in their eyes. Their goals are not dulled by fear, powerlessness and inertia. For every one who achieves greatness there are thousands who are having a go and setting their own goals for success. Satisfaction does not come alone from public acclaim.
If you sit down and talk to AUSBUY members running businesses, the lights are on in their eyes because they are living an idea; they are working with others to develop a shared vision. Like the sportspeople and artists, one of the attributes they share is a realisation of a dream. Their success is shared as they create jobs and wealth for their people and this country.
Every big business started with someone having an idea to solve a problem, to satisfy a need and a vision which translated into action. They display courage, endurance, make sacrifices and work with others to achieve. They are "the builders and makers" which is the foundation of Australia.
AUSBUY's Corporate Members represent a diverse range of products and services, across a wide range of sizes from small one person operations to major organisations supplying Australians and export markets. These businesses interface with us at every level of our lives.
The stories in these Member profiles are about what drives people to create, to build and to sustain an idea and how we all benefit. It is the essence of what gives these good Australian companies their integrity to deliver innovative, high quality, good value products and services. These stories are the provenance of our AUSBUY members which makes them unique.
We invite you to read these profiles and imagine how one small idea can be developed to produce something which makes a difference in many lives.
Aqualex Gutter Protection
Aqualex Gutter Protection is a family owned and run Australian business. We have over 30 years experience in the manufacture and supply of (diamond mesh) expanded metal products for use in the architectural, construction, automotive, mining, fabrication and residential building industries.
Our team has utilised the knowledge and expertise acquired through many years of supplying industrial fire proofing, hail guard and vermin proofing products to a diverse market and used that knowledge to develop the “Aqualex” gutter protection range.
The manufacturing plant was established in Melbourne in 2003 to cater to the domestic demand for a high quality, easy to install, D.I.Y. gutter protection system that was both fireproof and also an efficient filter to enhance existing domestic rainwater collection and storage systems. After two years of product development, testing and trials, Aqualex was launched onto the market in August 2006.
Aqualex products are made from locally sourced raw materials. All stages of the manufacturing and fabricating process take place at our Williamstown factory.
We are committed to providing only the highest quality products and services and are constantly monitoring customer feedback and market developments to ensure that we maintain our high standards of Best Business Practice and maximum customer satisfaction.
Aussie School Books
Gary Underwood combined his experience as a teacher, writer and working with Australian educational publishers before building a business called Aussie School Books.
Frustrated that many education publishers were not keen to publish Australian stories, he decided to publish books for Australians by Australian writers. He is passionate about Australian children learning through our own unique stories, and Aussie School Books publishes up to 20 books a year.
The preservation of a culture is through story telling. Ready access to the web site and mass media has meant we have lost sight of our unique Australian stories as told in our own language and from the perspective our own core values.
Aussie School Books are telling our stories and deserve our support.
Aussie School Books are sold to Australian schools through their distributor, Blake Education.

Permatrim
Denise and Garry Turner have turned a passion for boating into a business by developing PERMATRIM, a system designed for any sized boat with an outboard motor or stern drive. The Turners have over 300 distributors Australia wide and take every opportunity to travel to boat shows throughout Australia to personally inform customers of the benefits fitting a PERMATRIM will provide.
We all know Australians love to be in or on the water, and as there is a boat for any sized budget then PERMATRIM can be used to make boating more efficient. The Turners manufacture in Sydney using powder coated marine grade aluminium so PERMATRIM will not corrode. PERMATRIM is a bolt on trim tab which improves the performance, steering and turning circle of the boat, prevents cavitation, picks up top speed and also allows a lower planing speed.
Water skiers also notice the difference because with PERMATRIM the wake can be trimmed at any speed from 20kms to 70kms, planes faster with a smoother transition in deep water with softer wakes.
PERMATRIM is used by essential services such as water taxis, Maritime, SES, Waterways, Fisheries, Water Police and Rescue vessels. Many testimonials from satisfied boat owners are an assurance that PERMATRIM improves the performance, fuel economy and stability on all boats and safe and enjoyable use.

Seasol International Pty Ltd
Seasol International Pty Ltd - a home-grown family company.
In 1968, Redic Pty. Ltd., a small company with just two employees, was founded in Australia by Eric Haynes.
Rapid success enabled a number of acquisitions. One of the companies acquired, in 1983, was Tasbond - a Tasmanian company that had been manufacturing Seasol since the 1970’s. Tasbond was particularly of interest to Eric Haynes as the species of kelp and the manufacturing process used to make Seasol were unique.
After the stock market crash in 1987, Redic was re-privatised. The company divested itself of a number of its divisions but the Seasol division was retained.
In 1997 the new Seasol home garden range was launched and supported with a major advertising and promotional campaign. The distribution network had been completely overhauled and the product was finally made widely available to the public nationwide, via DIY/hardware stores, mass merchants, garden centres and supermarkets.
Seasol’s sales and popularity amongst home gardeners grew rapidly and it soon became by far the top selling liquid garden treatment in Australia. PowerFeed was introduced in 2000.
In 2003 the Seasol division became a separate company - Seasol International Pty. Ltd. The company now employs over 60 people and is still owned by Eric Haynes.
