To GlaxoSmithKline,
I purchased a Lucozade Energy (300ml Lemon) from a Melbourne city 7-11 outlet on the weekend. I am writing to express my disappointment that after purchasing the product I read the fine print that it is Made in China.
I do not have an issue with purchasing consumer goods that are imported where the product cannot be obtained locally or can be manufactured overseas for substantially less. However, where food and beverages are concerned I think products should be clearly labelled. Though multinational companies claim an item may be manufactured to strict quality control measures, the country of origin should be clearly identified. Personally, I will always buy a local food/beverage when the choice between that and imported is clearly identified.
The Lucozade (barcode 93303705) does list Made in China, but it is in small print with the GlaxoSmithKline Australian and New Zealand office addresses in larger bold text. This is the main point of me writing to you – I find this misleading and suggest your product labelling be updated.
Kind Regards
T. C.

That would right its like Kraft with their Premium biscuits, guess where they are made? and some Tom & Jerry snacks my son got at the supermarket the other day. I love foods from most countries but why are we importing these things when the health standards of (eg) China are no where near that of our own?
The figures state that they have somewhere near 250,000 people per year die of environmental related poisoning, ie pollution in water, pollution related air respretory issues and of course pollution in crops and food as a result.
